Welcome to DoMA

The finest school in the area starts with the first bow.

DoMA Taekwondo has been one of the longest standing martial arts academies in New York, known for a strong tradition and a professional reputation.

Our instructors have studied and trained for years to qualify as part of the DoMA Team, and their primary goal is to help you be the best you can be. We honor martial arts traditions that go back centuries, and we are always looking for new ways to excite our students.

Honesty, respect, discipline, self control, patience and humility are more than words here. They are the concepts our students learn to live by. Everyone comes to the dojang on the same level.

Our story and masters →
The five tenets

What we train beyond the kick.

Discipline is what sets Taekwondo apart. Most children laugh when a friend falls. A Taekwondo student helps a fallen friend to their feet.

01

Courtesy

Consider others before yourself.

02

Integrity

Show truth in your actions and words.

03

Self Control

Think before you act and speak.

04

Perseverance

Always keep trying. Never give up and finish what you start.

05

Indomitable Spirit

Face your fears confidently.

Why parents choose DoMA

Masters who learn your child, not just teach a class.

Parents tell us the same things again and again: the masters are patient, they get to know each student's personality, and they balance fun with real discipline.

  • Attention for every student. Parents point to our student to teacher ratios and the one-on-one help in class.
  • A big, clean dojang. A spacious, well kept training floor with room to move.
  • Positive and structured. Firm but kind teaching, with plenty of positive reinforcement.
  • A clear goal. Every student trains toward the ultimate goal for all martial artists: black belt.

“My son used to be so intimidated by tkd from his prior experience elsewhere, but Doma has changed his perspective on tkd completely! Grand Master Park truly gets to know his students and takes the time to understand their personalities, both strengths and weaknesses.”

“The instructors work so well with him. They are firm but kind and use a ton of positive reinforcement. He is always excited to go and it has become a highlight of my week to sit back and watch him attend to tasks, follow directions, and participate in structured exercises.”

Questions

Before your first class.

Still wondering about something? Call us at (516) 316-8171.

What happens at the free class?

You or your child join a real class for your age group, led by a DoMA master. No experience is needed. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in and we will take care of the rest.

How young can my child start?

Little DoMA starts at age 2. Classes for the youngest students are short and built around listening, balance and following directions, so a first class feels like play with a purpose.

I have never done martial arts. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Every student starts on the same level in our dojang, and our Trial program is built for complete beginners. One of our adult students started at 52 as a self-described non-athlete.

Which DoMA school should I choose?

Pick the one closest to home. DoMA has four schools: Plainview / Hicksville, Astoria, Steinway and Manhasset. Choose your school on the form and that team will be in touch.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move in. We will let you know anything else when we confirm your class.
